About VPS
A virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual computer system controlled remotely from anywhere in the world. VPS servers allow you to run automated trading strategies unaffected by personal desktop or internet connectivity limitations.
A VPS is a valuable tool for experienced traders who want to automate their trading and improve their response time. Follow the link to find out how to apply for Exness VPS.
Advantages of using Exness VPS
Let us look at a few benefits:
- Speed: VPS servers are located in close proximity to Exness trading servers located in Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Singapore, Miami, and Johannesburg; this ensures fast and reliable execution.
- Stability: The VPS is independent of the quality of your internet connection because it is a virtual computer; therefore, your personal internet connection will not affect the execution of orders.
- 24-hour trading: Trade using Expert Advisors (EA) even when your computer is off.
- Portability: Use this on any operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Linux) or device (desktop, tablets, phones, laptops).
- Mobility: Access your account and trade from anywhere in the world.
You are welcome to use your own VPS to trade on our servers. However we cannot ensure the quality of your VPS connection, so we encourage you to apply for Exness VPS and give it a try.
Applying
Exness VPS is available free to anyone who meets the criteria, and can be applied for from the Personal Area (PA).
- Exness VPS criteria
- How to apply for Exness VPS
- Can I lose access to Exness VPS?
- Can I apply for more than one Exness VPS?
- How many trading platforms can be used with Exness VPS?
Note: some features here are not available for older versions of Exness VPS, but there are plans to introduce them soon. Please contact Support for further assistance in the meantime.
Exness VPS criteria
Exness VPS requires meeting criteria on overall account balance and/or total trading volume. These criteria may appear differently depending on your registered country, so we recommend logging into your PA (Settings > Private Virtual Server) to confirm these criteria.
Note: The criteria tracker is not available for accounts with an older VPS service active.
Trading volume criteria
Trading volume does not consider Social Trading/Portfolio Management trading accounts created by Investors, but trading accounts used by Strategy Providers and Portfolio Managers to trade do count towards this total.
How do I calculate traded volume in lots?
It helps to understand how to calculate a trading instrument’s lot contribution to the overall trading volume criteria of USD 500 000 (over 30 calendar days).
First, remember that any fully traded lot will consist of an open and close position, which combined is defined as a single round turn lot. Open orders are defined as a single lot; when that order is closed, it becomes a round turn lot.
The contract size of the instrument is calculated as trading volume once when the order is opened, and again when the order is closed. In other words, a fully traded order (open and close) contributes the trading instrument’s contract size twice to your trading volume.
For example:
- 1 open lot of USDJPY contributes USD 100 000 to your trading volume.
- Upon closing 1 open lot of USDJPY, this becomes a round turn lot and contributes USD 200 000 USD to your trading volume.
- So to achieve the USD 500 000 trading volume criteria, only 2.5 USDJPY fully traded lots are required.
To calculate how many fully traded lots you need by trading instrument, simply apply the following calculation:
Fully traded lot = ((traded volume in USD / base currency to USD rate) / contract size) / 2
This calculation can be applied to any trading instrument; as shown below with a USD 500 000 trading volume:
- Cryptocurrency: if BTCUSD price = 30,000, then ((500,000 / 30,000) / 1) / 2 = 8.5 round turn lots.
- Forex: if EURUSD price = 1.07, then ((500,000 / 1.07) / 100,000) / 2 = 2.3 round turn lots.
- Indices: if JPY225 is 0.0078 against USD on contract size of 26,000, then ((500,000 / 0.0078) / 26,000) / 2 = 1 232 round turn lots.
- Shares: if TSLA share is USD116, then ((500,000 / 116) / 100) / 2 = 22 round turn lots.
- Energies: if UKOIL price is USD 84, then ((500,000 / 84) / 1,000) / 2 = 3 round turn lots.
Therefore, in these examples, it would only require the round turn lot amount to be traded within 30 calendar days to qualify for Exness VPS (if your overall account balance is between USD 500 and 999). Remember to always consider the base currency mid price (between bid and ask) at the time of the order to guide conversions of lots into USD.

You will lose access to Exness VPS if you fail to meet all trading volume criteria below:
- Trading volume of USD 500 000 or more (or the equivalent in any currency/asset) over a 30 day period.
- Trading volume of USD 4,500,000 or more (or the equivalent in any currency/asset) over a 90 day period.

More about time period criteria
The 90 day period is unlocked on the 91st day after VPS issuance; the 180 day period on the 181st day. The 90 day period and 180 day period are only measured once the next 30 day period is completed, i.e 121st day for a full 90 day period, 211th day for a full 180 day period. Only orders opened and closed during the period are considered within that period. Pending orders do not contribute to the 30/90/180 day trading volume.
Please read about Exness VPS restoration for more about losing access to Exness VPS.
Can I apply for more than one Exness VPS?
Only one Exness VPS is provided per PA. However, Exness VPS can be used with any trading account available in your PA.
How many MetaTrader terminals can be used with Exness VPS?
During the Exness VPS application process, you can request up to 5 trading terminals for MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5. One MultiTerminal comes installed by default.
Note: browsers cannot be installed on your VPS desktop, as the service is strictly reserved for trading.
