The Exness VPS service enables users to run automated trading strategies unaffected by personal desktop or internet connectivity limitations.
New users are encouraged to follow our Exness VPS first-time user guide.
What is a VPS?
+A virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual computer system controlled remotely from anywhere in the world. VPS servers allow you to run automated trading strategies unaffected by personal desktop or internet connectivity limitations.
A VPS is a valuable tool for experienced traders who want to automate their trading and improve their response time.
Exness VPS advantages
+- Speed: VPS servers are located near Exness trading servers located in Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Singapore, Miami, and Johannesburg; this ensures fast and reliable execution.
- Stability: VPS is independent of the quality of your internet connection because it is a virtual computer; therefore, your personal internet connection will not affect the execution of orders.
- 24-hour trading: trade using Expert Advisors (EA) even when your computer is off.
- Portability: accessible on any operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Linux) or device (desktop, tablets, phones, laptops).
- Mobility: trade from anywhere in the world with your Exness account.
You may use your own VPS to trade on our servers. However we cannot ensure the quality of your VPS connection, which is why we recommend Exness VPS.
Exness VPS criteria
+Exness VPS requires meeting criteria on overall account balance and/or total trading volume. The specific eligibility criteria and requirements that apply can be found in your Personal Area; log into your PA (Settings then Virtual Private Server) to confirm these criteria.
Trading volume criteria
Trading volume does not consider Social Trading/Portfolio Management trading accounts created by investors, but trading accounts used by Strategy Providers and Portfolio Managers to trade do count towards this total.
How do I calculate traded volume in lots?
It helps to understand how to calculate a trading instrument’s lot contribution to the overall trading volume criteria:
- Any fully traded lot consists of an open and close state, which combined is defined as a single round turn lot.
- Open orders are defined as a single lot; when that order is closed it becomes a round turn lot.
- The contract size of the instrument is calculated as trading volume once when the order is opened (round lot), and again when the order is closed (round turn lot).
A fully traded order (open and close) contributes the trading instrument’s contract size twice to your trading volume.
Calculation examples:
- 1 open lot of USDJPY contributes 100,000 USD to your trading volume.
- Upon closing 1 open lot of USDJPY, this becomes 1 round turn lot and contributes 200,000 USD to your trading volume.
- So to achieve a 1.5 million USD trading volume criteria (for example), only 7.5 USDJPY fully traded lots are required.
To calculate how many fully traded lots you need by trading instrument, simply apply the following calculation:
Fully traded lot = ((traded volume in USD / base currency to USD rate) / contract size) / 2
This calculation can be applied to any trading instrument; as shown below with the example of a USD 1.5 million trading volume:
- Cryptocurrency: if BTCUSD price = 30,000, then ((1,500,000 / 30,000) / 1) / 2 = 25 round turn lots.
- Forex: if EURUSD price = 1.07, then ((1,500,000 / 1.07) / 100,000) / 2 = 7 round turn lots.
- Indices: if JPY225 is 0.0078 against USD on contract size of 26,000, then ((1,500,000 / 0.0078) / 26,000) / 2 = 3,700 round turn lots.
- Shares: if TSLA share is 116 USD, then ((1,500,000 / 116) / 100) / 2 = 64.5 round turn lots.
- Energies: if UKOIL price is 84 USD, then ((1,500,000 / 84) / 1,000) / 2 = 9 round turn lots.
In these examples, only the round turn lot amount needs to be traded within 30 calendar days to qualify for Exness VPS (along with an overall account balance between 500 and 1,999 USD). Always consider the base currency mid price (between bid and ask) at the time of the order to guide conversions of lots into USD.

Loss of access
+You will lose access to Exness VPS if you fail to meet a specified trading volume (or the equivalent in any currency/asset) over a 30 day period, 90 day period, or 180 day period. Log in to your Personal Area to confirm the required trading volume for your account.
Only orders from real accounts are considered for trading volume criteria and not demo accounts.
Only one time period criteria is needed to keep Exness VPS access.
- If you fail to meet any of the trading volume criteria for 30 consecutive calendar days, your VPS will be terminated with all your VPS user data cleared and irrecoverable.
- Breaching the Exness VPS terms of use may result in losing Exness VPS access.
VPS inactivity warnings are sent periodically over 30 consecutive calendar days (day 20, 28, 29, and 30 specifically). If the required criteria are still not met, the VPS is terminated. Pending orders do not contribute to total trading volume.
Inactive / Idle VPS
You may lose access if the follow criteria are not met:
- You must log in and trade from the VPS with a VPS linked trading account within 5 days of VPS being granted. You will receive warnings on day 3 and day 5 before VPS termination (pending orders do not count).
- You must log in and trade from the VPS at least once every 30 days or the VPS will be terminated, regardless of whether you meet the 90 or 180 day criteria. You will receive warnings on day 27 and day 30 before VPS termination (pending orders do not count).

A VPS is issued on 1st June:
- The client logs in and trades using the VPS on 4th June (within 5 days from the VPS issuance date).
- The client must log in and trade again using the VPS between 5th June to 4th July (30 days since the last trade from the VPS) and following intervals.
