Some unexpected errors may be solved by updating the MetaTrader versions in your Exness VPS to the latest version. Expert Advisors (EA) are not removed in the update process but some may need to be reinstalled to align with the new version. Open orders remain open during the update.
To check the current MetaTrader version
- Start MT4 or MT5 in Exness VPS.
- Open Help in the main menu bar.
- Select About.
- A window will pop up with the current version/build of MetaTrader below “MetaTrader 4 EXNESS” or “MetaTrader 5 EXNESS” respectively.
To update MetaTrader
- Close every open instance of MT4 and MT5.
- Find the MT Updater program on the Exness VPS desktop.
- Launch the MT Updater.
- Sit back and wait for the updater to automatically download and install the latest version of MetaTrader. This process might take a few minutes.
- A confirmation will pop up once the update is complete; click OK to complete the update.
What is my admin password?
You may be asked to enter an admin password after you use the newly updated MetaTrader application. Please select NO in the pop-up window, as this is not necessary and MetaTrader will run normally after closing this window.
Update errors?
If you encounter any errors during the update process, close the confirmation pop-up window and restart Exness VPS and run the updater again.
If the update still fails, please create a ticket in the support hub for further assistance.
