Why did this happen?
Trouble logging into MT4 or MT5 most commonly results from incorrect credentials, which will result in an "Authorization Failed" or "Invalid account" error message. Another possibility could be connectivity issues, which can cause "Common error" or "No connection" error messages.
How to solve this error?
For incorrect credentials:
- Ensure the required credentials are correct when logging into MT4 or MT5, including the trading account number, trading password, and account server.
- Ensure that you log in to MT4 with an MT4-based trading account and MT5 with an MT5-based trading account, or the login will fail.
If you have forgotten your trading account password, you can reset it.
For connectivity issues:
- Click the connection bar at the bottom right of the trading terminal and click Rescan servers. This may refresh the connection and solve the problem.
- Run a speed test on your internet connection.
- Check your internet cables or reset your modem/router by turning it off for at least 5 seconds before turning it on again.
- If you use a firewall, it can conflict with your trading terminal by limiting or blocking internet traffic through the application. Add your trading terminal to the list of firewall and antivirus software exceptions, disable your firewall or antivirus software altogether, and then log in again to see if it corrects the issue.
Other troubleshooting steps:
- Try to restart the trading terminal.
- Try to reinstall the trading terminal.
