You may be required to upload a screenshot when submitting a ticket in the Support hub or upon request by our Support team. Below are steps on how to take screenshots for specific devices:
Mac users with the latest macOS will have access to screenshot tools by either pressing Command + Shift + 5 on the keyboard or navigating to Launchpad, then Other, and selecting Screenshot.
The screen capture window allows you to capture a specific window, a part of the displayed screen, or the entire screen and then save the screenshot to your desktop.
Shortcuts:
- Full screen capture: Command + Shift + 3
- Targeted screen capture: Command + Shift + 4 turns the cursor into a crosshair; drag the crosshair to make the selection.
- Window screen capture: Command + Shift + 5, then hit the spacebar.
- Touch bar screen capture: Command + Shift + 6
For Apple devices that have a Home button:
- Hold down the Sleep/Wake button.
- Press the Home button at the same time.
- Look for a screen flash and listen for a camera shutter sound effect to confirm the capture.
- Your screenshot will be saved to your Camera Roll in the Screenshots album.
For newer iPhone models without a home button:
Locate the Side button (on the right side of the screen) and the Volume Up button.
Press and hold both buttons at the same time.
- Your screenshot will be saved to your Camera Roll in the Screenshots album.
Using an Apple Pencil (iPad only):
Equip your Apple Pencil.
Swipe up from the bottom corner of the iPad screen using the pencil to capture the image.
Apple Watch
First, enable the screenshots function on your Apple Watch:
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone, and head to My Watch.
- Head to General and turn on Enable Screenshots.
- Alternatively, head to Settings, then General, and tap Enable Screenshots.
Once active, hold the side button and the digital crown on your Apple Watch at the same time to take a screenshot.
Standard Android method:
- Locate the Power button and the Volume Down button.
- Press and hold both buttons at the same time.
Once captured, you can locate your images in one of two places: the Files app or y our phone's camera gallery.
Using devices with a physical home button:
- Locate the Power button and the Home button.
- Press and hold both buttons at the same time.
Note: When using the Exness Trade app for Android devices, screenshots are disabled by default to protect your privacy and security. This feature also hides your account details when you view your phone's recent tasks (background apps). If you need to take a screenshot (e.g., to share with Support), you will need to adjust your settings temporarily:
- Open the Profile tab and navigate to Settings.
- Uncheck the Hide screen content on recent tasks / disable screenshots option.
Important: Disabling this setting will allow you to take screenshots, but it will also leave your sensitive information visible in your device's open apps list. We highly recommend re-enabling this setting once you have captured the screenshot you need.
Using keyboard shortcuts:
- Press the Print Screen (PrtSc) button to copy your entire screen to your clipboard.
- Press Alt + PrtSc (or Fn + PrtSc on some keyboards) to copy only the active window to your clipboard.
- Once copied, you will need to paste the image into an application (like Paint or a messaging app) to save or send it.
Using the Screen Capture tool:
- Press Shift + Windows Key + S to activate the screen capture tool.
- Click and drag your mouse over the specific area you want to capture.
- A notification will chime and appear on your screen. Click on this notification to open the screengrab edit tool.
- Click the Save icon, choose a destination on your computer, and save the file (uploading this PNG file as your screenshot).
Customizing the Print Screen Button:
- You can set your Print Screen key to automatically open the screen capture tool instead of just copying the entire screen:
- Navigate to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard.
- Turn on the "Use the Print screen button to open screen snipping" option.
Windows Tablets:
Press the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time to take a screenshot.
Note: These instructions may vary slightly for older tablet models.
Using Chromebook keyboard:
- Locate the Show Windows key at the top of your keyboard (the icon looks like a box with two lines next to it).
- Press Shift + Ctrl + Show Windows at the same time.
- Select Screenshot from the menu that appears, then choose whether to capture the full screen, part of the screen, or a specific window.
- Once captured, you can find your saved screenshots in your device's Downloads folder. You can also choose to back them up to your Google Drive.
Using external keyboards:
- If you are using an external keyboard that does not have a Show Windows key:
- Press Ctrl + F5 to capture the entire screen.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + F5 to capture a specific area.
- Once captured, you can find your saved screenshots in your device's Downloads folder. You can also choose to back them up to your Google Drive.
Tablet Mode:
If using your Chromebook in tablet mode, press the Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time to snap a picture of the entire screen. Once captured, you can find your saved screenshots in your device's Downloads folder. You can also choose to back them up to your Google Drive.
Because there are many different Linux distributions (operating systems), the exact method for capturing your screen may vary. If the general methods below do not work, we recommend using a search engine to find instructions specific to your operating system.
General Keyboard Shortcuts:
- Press the Print Screen (PrtSc) button to capture your entire screen.
- Press Alt + Print Screen to capture a specific window.
- Press Shift + Print Screen to select a custom area to capture.
Note: Pressing the Ctrl key in combination with any of the shortcuts above will save the screenshot directly to your clipboard instead of saving it as a file.
Ubuntu:
- Open the Activities menu.
- Search for and select Screenshot.
- Choose whether you want to capture the whole screen, a single window, or a custom area.
- Save the image to your desired destination.
