Your security type is chosen during the registration process and is a safety measure in place to prevent unauthorized access to your trading accounts.
The two security types offered are phone and email:
- Phone (high security)
- Email (low security)
- Transactions requiring a verification code

Phone (high security)
When a phone is set as your security type, verification codes are sent to your registered phone number whenever you make a request or transaction requiring verification. You will need to enter the unique SMS code or voice OTP* in the verification field to confirm your request.
Only one security type is active at a time, with the phone set as default when you verify a phone number during registration.
*Voice OTP is a method only available to some regions.
Email (low security)
When email is set as your security type, an email containing a unique confirmation code will be sent to the email address registered to your Exness account. You then simply need to enter the code when prompted.
- In the first 30 days after registration, you can switch from the default set security type (Phone) to Email.
- After 30 days, this change will no longer be available.
Transactions requiring a verification code

This is not an exhaustive list. There can be other actions that may require account verification.
How to check the current security type
Follow these steps to verify your current security type setting:
- Log in to the Personal Area.
- Select Settings from the main menu.
- Open the Security settings tab and scroll down.
- You will find your security type listed under the 2-Step verification section.
How to change the security type
It is possible to change your security type manually in select circumstances, otherwise you must contact Support for assistance.
To change from email to phone as security type:
- Log in to the Personal Area.
- Select Settings from the main menu.
- Open the Security settings tab and scroll down.
- Click Change in the Security type section.
- Either select a registered phone number from the list, or click +New phone number.
- Confirm this action with the verification code sent to your email.
To change from phone to email as security type:
Note: this is only possible in the first 30 days after registration.
- Log in to the Personal Area.
- Select Settings from the main menu.
- Open the Security settings tab and scroll down.
- Click Change in the Security type section and set this to email.
To change from one phone number to another as your security type:
- Log in to the Personal Area.
- Select Settings from the main menu.
- Open the Security settings tab and scroll down.
- Click Change in the Security type section.
- Either select a registered phone number from the list, or click +New phone number.
- Confirm this action with the verification code sent to your phone.
